Comments From Guests of AVictorianRose

"A grand get away was planned in Grass Valley by the Mag 7 Sisters gathering for our 49th year of celebrating our long lasting friendship. How lucky we were to find A Victorian Rose. This treasure could not have been more perfect as the house was so beautifully decorated for Christmas, wonderfully appointed with all the amenities we seven women look for when we get away, within walking distance to the charming downtown of Grass Valley and very helpful owners. Thank you so much, we'll return." - Mag 7 Sisters, 01/11/12(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Every year my family has a sisters' reunion. We have varied the location from year to year. We loved staying at the Victorian Rose. There was plenty of room to accomodate the 10 of us. Everyone had a comfortable bed which is an important feature at our ages. The kitchen is large and well stocked with dishes and appliances. Several of us could be in the kitchen during food preparation. The large dining room was great for meals and post meal visiting. The house was within walking distance of downtown Grass Valley. Catherine checked on us several times during our stay to make sure we were comfortable." - Katherine Kinner, San Mateo, CA, 09/25/11(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We just returned from a WONDERFUL two week stay at the beautiful Victorian Rose. I wish it could have been longer! My husband and I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and all of our children and grandchildren were able to come and stay with us for some time while we were there. Every one of them loved the house as much as we did. Over the 4th of July weekend we had 14 people there and there were beds for all and plenty of room to spread out. It was a very hot few days but the home stayed very comfortable, even the second story. The house is so well equipt, there was not one thing we needed that we couldn't find in one of the cupboards or drawers. We all loved the location; walking into town and/or to the Safeway (2 blocks) was a daily happening for all of us, sometimes multiple times. The owners, Catherine and Ross, are such warm, helpful and caring people; I actually felt like I was a guest in their OWN home. We have rented many vacation homes but we have never had the feeling for any of the others as we had for A Victorian Rose and the town of Grass Valley. We are seriously considering moving there! (Catherine, if you ever decide to sell AVR, please let us know :-) I can't wait to go back again and I will definitely recommend it to all of my friends. If you decide to rent this lovely home, I can guarantee you, you will love it!" - Jana Martinez, Napa, CA, 07/14/11(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We stayed at the wonderful Victorian Checking in on a Saturday night. On Sunday, 18 of my husband's family came to visit and we were able to go to Nevada City's Victorian Christmas as well. Then on Monday 18 of my family members came for a soup dinner. The rooms were so nice for conversations, the home was decorated for Christmas and we couldn't believe how well stocked the kitchen was - even had cold beer mugs and Ice cream maker bowls in freezer! This is wonderful retreat for any reason and the Catherine is great and does take pride in ownership! We will be back" - Darcie, Elk grove, CA, 12/24/10(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Loved this beautiful Victorian . I organized a sewing retreat for my quilt group of 9 ladies, we had such a good time they are already asking me to plan another one in March. The garage is converted into an insulated Rec room where we set up tables and had enough room for 9 gals with sewing machines and ironing station and the little fridge was perfect for our snacks. We loved th big dining room where there was plenty of room for all 9 of us and we could walk to 2 different quilt/fabric stores as well. Thanks again for the great referral for dinner and we will be back for another girls sewing weekend." - Kelly , Paradise Ca, 10/19/10(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We stayed at Victorian Rose for our son's wedding and it was perfect. Very nice and so clean. One of the pluses for us was how quiet it was. We were there with our 5 month old twin grandchildren and we couldn't hear a thing upstairs (they were down). My feeling is the house had a "pride of ownership" look to it. Very well cared for and I appreciated that very much in a rental home. Thank you so much." - Joanna Blss, Santa Rosa, CA, 09/30/10(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"My entire family(all 12 of us)had an absolutely wonderful experience during our recent stay at A Victorian Rose. The home was beautifully decorated, well supplied and most suitable for a large gathering. I especially loved the large dining table as we were all able to linger together and get caught up with each other. The laughter and pure joy we all experienced will last a life time. I highly recommend Victorian Rose...it is more than just a place to stay...love and joy abound!" - Mary Thibault, San Diego, CA, 08/30/10(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We stayed here for the weekend of my sister's wedding. It was a great place for family to gather, children to take naps, and even the wedding cake was made here. We were very thankful for such a comfortable, pleasant place to stay." - Laurie, Pope Valley, CA, 07/27/10(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"My husband treated my friends and I to a weekend stay for a girl's trip for my birthday and we had a great time! The house is ideal for a scrapbooker's weekend and we definitely enjoyed our close proximity to all the local restaurants. The house is set up lovely and we also enjoyed the wonderful hot tub! I wouldn't hesitate to return to A Victorian Rose or to recommend it to my friends!" - Jennifer, Rocklin, CA, 06/30/10(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We stayed at the Victorian Rose during my daughter's wedding. Although we were not able to relax as much as we would have liked we totally loved the house. It was very comfortable and relaxing. Had a great father's day breakfast Sunday morning." - candy stickney, Orangevale, Ca, 06/28/10(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We had a wonderful time at A Victorian Rose. Its proximity to downtown made everything within walking distance, even the wine tasting rooms. This was the first time we were able to spend three days with our friends because the house was big enough to handle all of us. I would highly recommend A Viictorian Rose to anyone who wants a nice place to stay while in the Grass Valley area. We also enjoyed Nevada City. " - Ron St. Jean, Orinda, CA, 05/15/10(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Our group loved exploring the Grass Valley area, and looked forward to coming "home" to A Victorian Rose each evening. What a great place to hang out with friends! There are many inviting corners to sit and relax or spend time with others, both inside and out, but we usually found ourselves sitting around the table in the dining room, next to the kitchen so we could pour a drink or find some food. The kitchen was set up perfectly, with anything we needed to cook a meal. Then at bedtime, we could retreat to our own cozy bedrooms. What a perfect place to stay! Thank you." - Sue, Martinez, CA, 05/14/10(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"What a terrific house! Our family of 4 (boys aged 9,13,&17) and our neighbors family of 3(boy aged 10)had a very comfortable stay. The house has everything you need. It was like being at home! We stayed the weekend before Christmas and went to Grass Valley's Cornish Christmas downtown. The house is in such a great location we were easily able to walk downtown and not have to deal with parking. What a perfect setting to get into the Holiday spirit! We also went to the Christmas show at Off-Broadstreet Theatre, a MUST when in the area! The boys hung out in the rec-room and the adults enjoyed wine in the parlor! Perfect! We definitely are planning more trips to the Victorian Rose!" - Tina Pilcher, El Dorado Hills, Ca., 12/26/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"I had the pleasure of staying here with my child while on a business trip. I worked a good part of the day, and the rest was reserved for time with my son. The house is beautiful, centrally located, and very child friendly. We were able to go on walks and experienced many adventures. The location is close to town,& businesses. When I returned to the house each day, my child was kept busy exploring the yard, and the playroom, so I could have meetings in the gorgeous living room. We were close to town, and a short drive to the river & covered bridge. The house was the perfect place to stay, nice and quite, and so much warmer then a hotel. Access to a kitchen was a cost savings, and a great convenience. The owner is a joy, and pleasure. This is the only place I would stay when I return. The house made what could of been a stressful & very busy & drab business trip, manageable and surprisingly enjoyable for myself & my child. The house is so charming, it is easy to shut off the business mind, relax & enjoy the splendor. You can not be stressed in this beautiful & serene location. Thank you so very much for creating such a lovely place for us to temporarily call home." - Dorothy Sullivan, 09/04/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Our family of 6 adults and three very small children ( ages 3, 17 months and 2 months!) really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. As owners of a vacation rental ourselves, we appreciated the obvious love Catherine & Ross have for their home. We were in the area for a wedding, and decided to make it an extended fun family time. We arrived on Friday, July 3 and departed on Monday, July 6. We can certainly reccommend Grass Valley as a great place to spend the 4th of July. Wonderful parade, lots to do in town, and a very easy walk for all. It's a tie for our favorite place - the front porch which was all decorated for America's birthday with the great wicker chairs, or the upstairs "hidden" toy area. There was plenty of room and numerous quiet areas. Nap times were easy to achieve ( for grownups, too!). The house was so quiet, we never even heard the baby at 2:00am. I would reccommend this to anyone looking for a very special getaway." - Lori Wells, Huntington Beach, 07/22/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"This comment is long overdue. We stayed at the Victorian Rose from June 17 through June 21 of 2009 for our wedding in nearby Alta on June 20. There were 7 of us and it saved us a lot of money and hassle to stay with the Victorian Rose instead of renting out a bunch of rooms at a hotel. The house was absolutely charming! There was a definite energy about the house that was unmistakable from the minute we walked in. We would definitely recommend this home away from home to anyone who might travel to this part of the world. Catherine was very interested in our comfort and was always only a phone call away if anything was needed and even called a couple of times to see how everything was going for us. We even had a small bachelor/bachelorette get together with our traveling companions in the hot tub. I sicerely hope that we get the chance to use this place once again." - Scott and Cindy Ackland, Litchfield, Minnesota, 07/20/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Fantastic house, amenities & location! We stayed at the house for 3 nights in mid-April (I'm a bit slow in getting this posted). The weather couldn't have been more perfect. This was a 'girls getaway' weekend for 5 of us that have been friends since high school ... and we're now in our late 50s. Catherine, the owner, is very nice, communicative and helpful. Great to deal with! We spent a lot of time on the wonderful front porch chatting & giggling, and fortunately had no complaints from the neighbors. The house is decorated beautifully, with many upgrades to the kitchen. The beds are all comfortable, the spa is *great*. Catherine takes great pride in managing the property for her guests, and has added many thoughtful touches to make your stay as perfect as possible. Thank you for such a wonderful place for us girls to reconnect!" - Kathy, Sunnyvale, CA, 07/19/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Terrific. We had 14 folks (half were teenagers) and loved it. The kids mostly hung out in the seperate detached rec-room (converted garage). The house was clean and the owners were very helpful. All within short walking distance of downtown Grass Valley. The beer steins in the freezer were a nice touch!" - Greg N, Vancouver, BC, 07/16/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"This vacation home was truly that, a home away from home. My family and I were visiting the area under rather difficult circumstances. We had just lost my grandfather and were in town for the funeral. A Victorian Rose provided a beautiful, calming respite. We were fortunate that a reservation was available for the weekend we needed and Catherine made all the arrangements so easy. Reservations, confirmation, and "check-in" were so smooth. The spacious home provided plenty of room to "get away" when each of us needed our own private time. The game room provided a fun getaway for my 12 year old son. Empire Mine State Park is within walking distance for day hikes and downtown is just a hop/skip/jump...you almost don't need a car once you are there. There was something for everyone!! We all thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful aesthetics of the home, too. It truly was a place that made us feel "at home". I was especially impressed by the kitchen and how wonderfully well stocked it was. I could cook for the family with no worries that I might need to go out and get anything other than food. This vacation home was fabulous and more than I anticipated. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone visiting the area. " - Karin, Monrovia, CA, 05/19/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"A more perfect setting could not have been found for the 'sleepover' for a group of highschool friends that all turned 60. We found the house to be truly enchanting, and the blooming dogwoods breath-taking. We all had an incredible time renewing friendships. I highly recommend this charming house to any and all who can enjoy its beauty." - Tena Brown, 05/01/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"What a darling house! Everything written about the home was true, as we explored the house. I really appreciated all the beautiful updating done on your home. Staying here made for the most wonderful weekend. There was room for all to stay and be comfortable. The location was ideal for our wedding in Nevada City and our rehearsal dinner at Goomba's Italian Restaurant soon to open on Colfax Ave. We will certainly be back to your wonderful home!" - Anonymous, Southern California, 04/22/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Three small families shared this house for a weekend trip. It was absolutely fantastic! We walked to the market and had all our meals at the house. The kitchen was beautiful and well stocked. Each set of parents had a room, and most of the kids bunked together in a fun room upstairs with toys and a TV. The dads loved the "rec room" and everyone loved the hot-tub. We instantly felt at home and loved everything about the house. We hope to return in the future." - Anonymous, Cotati, CA, 02/02/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We had a wonderful stay at the Victorian Rose for our annual Ladies Christmas Shopping Trip. There were about ten of us, and we enjoyed a wonderful meal together in the home the first night. The kitchen was AMAZINGLY well-stocked and the home had everything we needed. The shopping was fabulous, and many of the ladies in our group (who came from as far as Colorado Springs) said it was the best shopping trip EVER (and we have been doing this for at least 30 years). The snow that fell on our final day was the tip of the iceberg! Thank you so very much!" - Jane Suzanne King, Jackson, CA, 01/05/09(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"What a wonderful time we had in your beautiful victorian! A very short walk to downtown Grass Valley, great kitchen to prepare meals and chat. We loved just hanging out and felt so comfortable and 'right at home.' The recreation room (separte from the house) was ideal for our four 20-something children. Everyone had a comfortable room and slept great! We enjoyed exploring Neveda City (just a 5-minute drive) and there are plenty of fantastic eateries and coffee shops for everyones taste. It was fun to also go to the local bowling alley for "rock-n-bowl" -- great family fun was had by all. Thanks for sharing your home with us!!!!!" - Bernie & Ruth Stenson, Martinez CA, 12/26/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"What a lovely place! It ended up being 2 vacations in one as we deposited the kids in the rec room & scarcely saw them again until we left! We decided it was too hot to go to the shade free fairgrounds for the festival and spent Saturday hanging around the house, playing croquet and cards, napping, reading, having evening cocktails on the porch. It’s a beautiful home, bigger than it looks on the website with a superbly well stocked kitchen and in great shape. What a treat that for a family of 5 who travel with their dogs." - Heather Carroll, San Francisco, CA, 10/22/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We had a wonderful time. My kids and my 1 year old grandson and our friends came up to stay with us. We all enjoyed every minute of our stay there. My daughter in law found the Victorian Rose and gave a hint where to find the Rose in the Guest book. Hope you find it, we had fun looking for it." - Ron and Alma Carrera, Temple City, Ca, 07/29/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We had the BEST time staying at the Victorian Rose. Thank you so much!" - Emily Borrenpohl, Littleton, CO, 07/23/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We spent a wonderful weekend at the Victorian Rose. The house has everything you could possiablly want at a rental and more. It is really well done, comfortable and convenient. The game room and hot tub were great, and everything was nice and clean. Thanks for sharing your home with us!" - Anonymous, Denver, CO, 06/16/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We stayed at the Victorian Rose for our grandson's eighth grade graduation from Grass Valley Charter School. Our daughter,son-in-law, twin one year old grandsons and three year old gradaughter stayed with us. We had a great time from playing in the toy room, to hanging out in the yard and front porch. When my 14 year old grandson and his family (also 11 year old twin girls, 13 year year old grandson and 7 year old grandaughter) came over, they had a wonderful time in the garage play room and hot tub. It suited us perfectly, we were sad to leave. By the way, our twin 11 year old grandaughters found the victorian heart which was in plain sight but we didn't see it even though we were looking for it!" - Charlene and Ralph, Arcadia, Ca, 06/12/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"May 19, 2008The Victorian Rose was the scene chosen for this year's family reunion for my mother, two sisters, and myself.  We had a delightful stay at the Rose and loved every minute of it!  We found it to be quaint, convenient, comfortable and so welcoming. It had something for everyone and we took advantage of it all, including the wonderful jacuzzi.  We felt like we had been transported back in time but we still had all the coveniences of today.  The Victorian Rose has been planned and well-outfitted with tender, loving care.  We loved it and will return.   Linda Garcia" - Linda Garcia, 06/04/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Victorian Rose. All the ladies in our family get together once a year (8 of us) and we have stayed in places fom Cambria to Calistoga, and once even went on a cruise to Vancouver, BC. This was one of our favorite places, and even though we had plans to "Paint the Town Red", other than shopping for food, we never left the house! The Dogwoods and Lilacs were in full bloom and painted such a pretty view from every window. We will surely return and next time at least get in to town. Deanna" - Deanna Nurge, Gilroy, CA, 04/24/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Our family gathered in Grass Valley for a nieces wedding. Two families stayed at the Victorian Rose and because the wedding reception was held at the Elks Lodge, the rest of the family gathered at the Victorian Rose after the wedding festivities. The house and kitchen accommodated all the eating and merriment. The close proximity to downtown Grass Valley meant that we could make frequent runs to the grocery store when we needed. The family took full advantage of what Grass Valley had to offer, shopping, hiking, skiing and just enjoying the beautiful weather and sunny porch. The game room kept the 30 year old "children" busy and the toys provided "new" interest for the 9 month old. We had a wonderful time" - Genie Sue Weppner, Boise, Idaho, 03/22/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We just returned from a long weekend at the Victorian Rose. There were ten of us, 6 adults and 4 children. Everyone seemed to find a place of comfort--mine was the front porch in the sun (yes, it was very warm and sunny while we were there) A new hot tub was just installed so we all enjoyed that as well. Thanks Catherine and Ross for providing an inviting place for our family to make memories. Judi McKinney" - Judi McKinney, Modesto, CA, 02/20/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"This was our first time at "A Victorian Rose", and it was perfect. Our family gathered for an early Christmas celebration, and to our delight Catherine had the entire place decked out with Christams cheer. Each room had a pleasant decor, and we enjoyed hanging out and dining together. We were 8 adults, three children, two Golden Retrievers, and 6 dinner guests; yet we had plenty of space. The kitchen is especially roomy with all the modern conveniences, and still maintaining a Victorian charm. We were preparing meals for 10 to 14 people, and the kitchen became an enjoyable gathering place. We will certainly keep "A Victorian Rose" on the "A" list of the places to stay in Grass Valley. Steve and Fawn Kraut and family" - Steve Kraut, Santa Rosa, CA, 01/02/08(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Spending Christmas at the Victorian Rose was such a wonderful experience. Every aspect of the house was perfect, from the comfortable furnishings to the inviting layout. There were thoughtful touches throughout...an extrememly nice kitchen, well provided with every thing you needed to prepare a feast for your loved ones...a "rumpus room" built for fun and comfort...many inviting nooks and crannies to curl up with a good book or a game. Even when the weather was quite chilly, the wrap around porch was warm and inviting in the mornings for coffee and the paper. I could go on and on. Everyone in our family from 15-80 loved the Victorian Rose. Thank you Catherine and your family!" - Kodet Family, Salinas, CA, 12/28/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Every year our family looks for a unique location to celebrate the Christmas holiday together. My folks, along with my two sons and their families SO enjoyed our stay this year at A Victorian Rose - a most charming vintage home offering every comfort and ammenity for an enjoyable stay. While spacious and allowing plenty of room for our large group, this lovely home also offered the ambiance, warmth and comfort of "a mother's arms". Truly a wonderful destination, I would recommend it to anyone." - Susan, Folsom, CA, 12/26/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We so enjoyed your lovely home. You had everything we neededd, and it was so much fun for us all to be together for our Grandson's wedding. I hope to get a group of my bridge buddies up there next spring. Thanks.. Maxine Mackey" - Maxine Mackey, California, 12/22/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"My family and I have stayed at Victorian Rose twice now. Both experiences have been fantastic. It's like our new home away from home. The funny thing is .. the house always wraps around us like a big hug. It's feels warm, cozy and comfortable just like our own house. We never even needed a minute to adjust to the new surroundings. The first time was for my brothers funeral. A very sad time yet we were able to entertain family comfortably. Ends up he literally lives right down the street from Victorian Rose. The second time was for Thanksgiving. Again, another difficult time celebrating a holiday with a missing loved one. Again, the family settled right in and enjoyed the surroundings and the spacious environment. Also, the kitchen is well supplied and we had everything necessary for cooking a wonderful holiday meal for about 25 people. Again - another wonderful experience. Most likely this will turn into an annual event and place for us. The children also love hiding the Victorian Rose Heart Ornament every time and laugh when the rooms begin to shake, rattle and roll. The garage game room and jacuzzi are an added plus and help with keeping the kids occupied and having fun! Oh yes I almost forgot my favorite thing - the wrap around porch for visiting and sipping my coffee. I've always wanted a wrap around porch - I guess this one will have to do for now. Fondly - The McTague Family" - Bridget McTague, Costa Mesa - California, 12/08/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"October 19, 2007 We enjoyed a girls weekend at Victorian Rose that was fantastic; everyone wants to go back. The house offers every amenity and the location is near to downtown shops and restaurants. The fall colors were spectacular!" - Cathi McKeon, Santa Rosa, CA, 10/24/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"WE had a wonderful stay and the Victorian Rose, such a peaceful place. The atmosphere is wonderful, it's like stepping back to another century and still having all the comforts and modern conveniences. We were there for my daughters wedding and it was an absolute joy to be able to come back to the house after a long day of rehersals and decisions and setting up, it just helped us relaxe. So if your considering a place to stay look no further. Thanks to all." - Anonymous, Lookout, California, 09/25/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We had a wonderful visit on Sept 9th & 10th of 2007. We came for a wedding. The home was very warm and comfortable. We would love to stay there again." - Shelley & Michael Sarason, Weed, CA, 09/25/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"What a magical place for children and what peaceful and utterly charming place for adults. The hous is full of places, inside and out, where family and friends can congregate en masse, or in cordial small groups. This place is unbelieveable! If you are looking for someplace to kick back with family and friends, look no further -- This is it!" - Dale Palmer, Altadena, CA, 08/27/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Our family usually vacations together for two weeks out of the year and Grass Valley was our destination in 2007. We had plenty of room for 8 people and plenty to do. And we enjoyed hunting for the pin cushion which was found almost on the last day! We enjoyed shopping in the consignment shops and found some good buys. We were not so fortunate in locating my husband's father's mining history but it was fun looking." - Suzanne Carroll, 07/30/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"My family & I loved staying at the victorian rose. we were in town for my daughters wedding, It was a wonderful place to relax between wedding parties and such, My brother the preacher and his wife really loved the porch in the early mornings to read and drink tea. The bedrooms were fabulous my younger daughter and her husband loved the upstairs red room with the feather boa!!!! We had a couple of great trips to the yuba river to cool off. I really want come again. Thankyou so much Karen Newberg" - karen Newberg, brisbane calif usa, 06/28/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"look for the HEART in the diningroom curtains" - Anonymous, 06/27/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We happened upon the Victorian Rose by chance, and were delighted to be able to stay here for a few days. The kitchen facilities are outstanding, as is the game room for the teens. Though for us older adults, the porch was the place to be to reminisce about family and friends We would highly recommend the Victorian Rose as a wonderful family getaway. Our only regret is that we could not have stayed longer. " - Jessica Hahn, Sandy, UT, 06/25/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Thank you so much. Our kids ages 3-12 just loved exploring the house and most especially enjoyed the upstairs and secret room. Everything was charming, spotless and well appointed. Would love to come back again." - Michelle, San Jose, CA, 06/04/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Catherine, You are the best, so organized and the place is lovely. My family had a great time." - Cindy, Vallejo, cA, 05/19/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Travelling from Australia, my 13-year-old daughter and I made our home at A Victorian Rose for several weeks. We found every possible amenity, quality fixtures, and beauty in every inch of this doll's house! We were visited by friends and family, and we all left with many happy memories of A Victorian Rose, Grass Valley, and our friendly and efficient host, Catherine." - Kima Fenn, York, Western Australia, 04/29/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"A very charming, clean, comfortable place to stay. We enjoyed the excellent cooking facilities and the nice -sized dining area for the family. We would recommend this home without hesitation." - Anonymous, 02/23/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We came to the area for my brother's wedding and had the opportunity to entertain lots of family & friends. The V. Rose worked out perfectly, giving the teenagers a place to hang out (rec. room) and us plenty of room to cook and dine comfortably. And an easy walk to downtown. We would return." - Laurie Trainer, Carmel Valley, CA, 02/22/07(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We had an awesome time staying in the Victorian Rose for the first two nights of our honeymoon. It was more comfy and homey than a hotel and we just relaxed and enjoyed the Christmas feeling in the local area." - Kevin, 12/20/06(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Pathway to Purpose Small Group met here on Dec1-3rd of 2006. It was wonderful. This womens retreat was unforgettable. Plenty of space for 11 ladies. We even had Chef Rob Payan prepare and serve a dinner. We loved the hot tub. The house provided a great atmosphere for us to share and bond and become closer as a smal group. Lovely place. some of us wanted to move in forever!" - Debra Lane, Fairfield, Ca., 12/15/06(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We had a lovely time at the Victorian Rose just before Thanksgiving. It ended up just a family of four, as my inlaws had to cancel. My two boys loved the garage/rec room and had the upstairs to themselves. The only problems were the shower heads - too little water comes out! Not a satisfiying shower experience. Also, I would suggest changing the trundle bed to a double or a queen if possible in one of the two downstairs bedrooms." - Stephanie Miller, Novato, CA, 11/22/06(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We used this amazing home for our business planning retreat this year. We had a wonderful time and everyone wants to go back again next year. I would highly recommend this wonderful house for a retreat or business meeting of this sort. Plenty of room to do for meetings as well as a very comfortable atmosphere that puts everyone at ease just like being at home. It is difficult to find a place with enough beds for everyone so this makes it an even better option for us. We have stayed in homes in Tahoe, on the Delta and in Bodega Bay in the past but we all enjoyed this experience the most. Thank you so much and we hope to be there again next year. " - Anonymous, Roseville,CA, 11/13/06(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"Our stay at A Victorian Rose was very relaxing. We were in Grass Valley to attend a wedding and being able to retreat back to A Victorian Rose after the festivities was delightful. It was nice to be in a fun area to explore when we had a couple of free hours. It felt like we had our own little resort ~ the owners are so accommodating and helpful! Much better than a suite at a 4-star hotel. The décor is charming and cheery and the property very convenient to town. I would have liked to have another day or two there to enjoy the area and see more of the wonderful autumn colors. I would definitely return anytime as it is a comfortable home away from home and will recommend to all without hesitation." - Donna, Woodland Hills, CA, 10/27/06(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We had a fantastic week at the Victorian Rose. The house was spacious enough to allow our young children to sleep upstairs, undisturbed while family members visited downstairs. I also appreciated the proximity of the house to everything of interest in Grass Valley and Nevada City." - Anonymous, 08/27/06(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"It was really a wonderful experience to have our 2006 Gardner Reunion at the Victorian Rose. Family members came from Georgia, Texas, Utah, and Nevada to be there. We all enjoyed the special touches of the decor. It reminded us of our Grandparents homes, but with modern cooking facilities. The evenings were nice to sit in the wicker chairs and reminisce. We loved visiting the famous Empire Gold Mine, only about a mile away. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Friday Night Market in downtown Grass Valley, just walking distance away. We couldn't be more pleased with the overall experience. I'd recommend it to anyone!" - Jerry Gardner, Sacramento, Ca, 08/04/06(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"We had a wonderful family reunion at the Victorian Rose! There were ten of us, but we were never crowed. It was absolutely the most delightful place for a family reunion as the house is spacious, well appointed, and absolutely lovely. Obviously each room has been carefully decorated with much though given to the details that ensure daily needs are met in a graceful, comfortable, and charming environment. Everyone commented on the light airy feeling of the house. The hosts express concern for their guest with extra touches, such as lace curtains, fresh linens, books, games, videos to use, and even a coffee bean grinder. The kitchen and the laundry rooms are excellent and well stocked. The air conditioning cooled us down comfortably during the heat of the day, while we napped and recharged for evening activities. We were so pleased to find everything our family needed and more ready at hand in the Victorian Rose. We spent our time playing games around the large dinning room table or gathered in the parlor visiting and joking about our childhood experience or out in the garage family room watching movies, playing cards or video games with the children or sometimes relaxing in the spa. What joy to sit in on the porch or in the shady yard with cool drinks in hand, while dinner grilled and the sunset. We did some sight seeing as there are plenty of activities in the area of Grass Valley. But most of all, the atmosphere at the Victorian Rose encouraged and allowed us to slow down, relax, and savor a very special time with our family. We will always fondly remember our 2006 summer vacation at the Victorian Rose. We confidently recommend the Victorian Rose to our co-workers, friends and family. We’ll be back! D. "Our experience at the Victorian Rose was wonderful. We stayed there over the weekend for our wedding in Grass Valley. It was so nice to have such a cozy and accomodating place to come back to over our busy weekend. I only wish we could have spent more time there! The bedrooms were all so well equiped and inviting and the house suited our 10 family members who were staying there comfortably. The house had everything we needed and then more! The homeowner called us personally to confirm things which was nice and the person who met us to show us around was wonderful as well. The whole experience was great! We highly recommend it!" - Mari Bruce, Sacramento, CA, 06/25/06(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"For my 40th birthday, a group of us stayed at the Victorian Rose for the weekend, and it was the best birthday celebration I've ever had! Grass Valley is wonderful town with great restaurants, shopping, wine tasting, parks, etc. And the Victorian Rose was so cute! It has everything you need and then some--pots, pans, coffeemaker, china, linens, hot tub, TVs, DVD players, radios, a poker table. You name it, it's there! I wish we could have spent a week there! Thank you!" - Lisa, Carmichael, CA, 06/09/06(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)

"If you are going to spend time in the Grass Valley area, I suggest you check out A Victorian Rose. It's a cute Victorian with all the conveniences of modern life. It is beautifully decorated, private and very clean. It sleeps enough people comfortably to bring the whole clan. It also has two full bathrooms which worked nicely for our two teenagers. They also made good use of the TV/DVD, spa and game room. I like saving money by not dining out each meal and the kitchen is well designed and supplied with plenty of cooking gear. Downtown Grass Valley is a short walk away. The ski resorts are onlya one hour easy drive away! I enjoyed my stay at A Victorian Rose and I plan to return." - Jan, Martinez, CA, 04/04/06(HomeAwayConnect Guestbook Entry)
