"Aloha Ning, We had a wonderful time, even though we had a lot of rain the first few days. We found out that the clouds actually feel good when they cover the sun while you're laying on the beach. Your home was soooo comfortable. There were 7 of us and I never felt like we were in eachother's way. We found several good restaurant's to eat at but found that we cooked more than we expected because it was fun to just be at the house. Those are great beach chairs and easy to carry. I have had several friends ask me to bring them pictures so they could have it for furture references for family gatherings.  "The weather was rainy and windy, but our stay at Bird of Paradise was our best visit to Kaua'i yet. The house is spacious and Ning is a great landlord. She left so many nice things for us. It was great to have the bungalow for one set of our adult children and the other slept downstairs. We all had togetherness and then privacy as well. The laundry room in the garage is very convenient and the living room is great for hanging out. "A year ago we started planning our vacation here in Kauai. Ten family members, 3 generations. Your house was perfect for us! What a lovely home. Our 7 days flew by, but we leave with such beautiful memories. The snorkeling beach by Brennecke's was our favorite. Shaved ice at Jo Jo's was the best! We had a Blast Tubing at Kauai's Back Country Adventure. Star gazing was another favorite. Best luau on the island - the Smith Family Luau. Sorry but Bubba's Burgers are over rated. The kids kept us busy with horseback riding, ziplining & Rob took Lance on the ATV outing at the old Sugar Mill. My parents enjoyed the central location of your house. They drove in and out of Waimea daily I think! We noticed the island was a lot busier than during our last visit (and a lot more traffic along roads going in and out of Lihue). It was really quite dry - we never saw a raindrop or a rainbow during the whole three weeks; but this made it a lot easier for the kids to trek along the NaPali trails.  "While the pictures and description of Bird of Paradise seemed very inviting and beautiful, I was not quite expecting the breathtaking views from the spacious and airy living room of this home. It was the perfect place to pray, meditate, gather one's thoughts and contemplate. The layout of the home flows and it is quite spacious, equipped with everthing a person or persons might need to be comfortable. There is really no need to go to any four star restaurants, as the dining accomodations also showcase a spectacular view of the mountains. The gourmet kitchen and a trip to the local farmer's market could inspire any number of culinary adventures. The cozy bungalow off to the right of the house is simply charming and provides the feeling of being in another time and place. It is conveniently located by the wonderful Poipu and Shipwreck beaches which beckoned me to rise early and experience indescribable sunrises (a mere 5-10 minute walk away). "Our stay in Kauai was awesome and staying at the Bird of Paradise Home made it even better! The home was more than accomdating for our group of 8. The lovely home was extremely clean and stocked with all we needed. Having the local soaps & lotions was a nice touch! Our 19 year olds & guys liked the basket of used sunscreens..We only brought 30+ and they wanted 15-. The kitchen had enough pots & pans to handle cooking for our big eaters. We made two trips to Cost Co! It did take us a day to locate the correct swimming pool and the 19 year olds (boys) were told they could not swim at the Hyatt :). They discovered the locals hang out at the beach in front of the Sheraton so of course they forgot all about the Hyatt! The location of the home was very convenient for walking to the beach, pool, shopping, restaurants and of course beautiful hiking trails. We highly recommend ATV riding with Kipu Ranch Adventures and Zip lining with Princeville Adventures. You have to eat at Dukes and Keokee's, plus you can't leave the Island without at least one Puka Dog. The Lu'au at the Hyatt was fantastic. And last but not least, I think between all of us we tried every flavor and combination of Shaved Ice (get the ice cream on the bottom). "Aloha Ning! What a fabulous time we had in your home for our 10 day family vacation. We had a total of 9 people which included 5 adults and 4 children ages 13, 11 1/2, almost 5 and a 3 year old. There was plenty of room and no one felt like we were crammed at all. Kitchen had all the dishes, pot and pans that we needed and more! Could have used a few more dish towels though but I just ran to KMart and bought a couple and left them there for others! Living room was full of room and even had some movies to choose from. We had brought some from home and accidentally left one there Ice Age the Meltdown so enjoy if you ever rent this place and had children and need a kid movie! Views from around the house was so refreshing and hearing the birds in the am was so much fun! There is basically nothing bad to say about this home. Great location, plenty of room and nice to have access to beach chairs, mat, etc. etc. The extra room made it feel like a whole other apartment so everyone had ample room and room to spare. We definately would rate this home a 10 plus, and will recommend it to friends and would use it again if the opportunity came up. "My family relished the time spent together in Kauai and your spacious home set the tone for a very relaxing and enjoyable time. My mother did well and since you asked about how the configuration of the house worked for her, I will say that the fact that you had a full hand rail for the stairs and a half-bath on the living room level made it much easier and safer for her. It was especially nice that there were many "conversation areas" in the living room area where one could read, check their email, or doze off even and not feel like you were away from the group. We will be happy to recommend your home to people who will be vacationing in Kauai. It was very conveniently located; I loved the lanai; and you had a surplus of drinking glasses for our thirsty group of seven (my family still can't keep track of their own glass and always look for a clean one!).  "Aloha Ning, Just wanted to let you know that we had a fabulous time in your home. It was as comfortable as our own home. We normally go out to eat at least one meal a day but the kitchen allowed my brother-in-law(a gourmet cook), to keep us well fed all the time. Golf was fantastic! Poipu bay offers multiple play packages that are quite reasonable so we played six times. The local beaches were very nice. We toured the entire island and snorkeled at a few spots in Princeville that were great! We will definitely contact you in the future to stay in beautiful Poipu Bay. "Seven adults had a wonderfull vacation staying at the Bird of Paridise propery for two relaxing weeks. The home is both spacious and well designed with ample bathrooms and private bedrooms.Very nicely decorated and fully stocked with ample dishes,pots, towels and bedding to everyones satisfaction.There is no airconditiong but the tropical breeze and cross flow windows gave so much comfort that we slept with comforters over us.Each bedroom had two sets of sheets so that doing the laundry frequently is not required. Washer and dryer came in handy though and we made frequent use of them in the double garage which had a stock of beach chairs etc.We could not be any more comfortable and had parking for 4 cars in our own driveway.The self contained private bedroom off from the main house was a nice feature and a pleasure and we three couples rotated every 4 or 5 days so that all could have total privacy for a period of time.The view is breathtaking of the mountains and old volcano on one side and a glimps of the ocean on the other from the huge deck and a great barbecue and outdoor dinning area also. Flower gardens are spectacular also. We were very central to everything on the island here and close to several great beaches also.Just walk down to the end of the road to the ocean for a very pleasant experience and you can watch whales and sea turtles swimming. We were so glad that we rented in this area and Suite Paradise were so helpful also.
