"Our family of 7 (6 adults and one teen) had a fabulous time at your beautiful home. The house was so spacious and comfortable for all of us and we never felt crowded. We even had a honeymooning couple in the seperate master guest room and they were in complete privacy when they wanted it. Your home lacked nothing in amenities, and we especially appreciated the brand new snorkelling equipment and boogie boards that were waiting for us. The guidebooks in the home were really helpful, and the location couldn't have been more convenient for walking to either Poipu Beach or Shipwreck Beach. We were able to easily walk to the Hyatt Luau (which was very good and we would highly recommend). Every morning we marvelled in the gorgeous sunrises while eating our breakfast on the lanai. We savored the views and tradewinds each afternoon while relaxing on the loungechairs on the lanai and shared stories from our day. The experience will leave a forever lasting memory. "Aloha Ning! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We loved our 5 night stay at the Bird of Paradise home and only wish that we had allowed more time on Kauai at the end of our month long Hawaiian vacation. Hopefully we will be able to come back soon and stay longer! When we vacation we always try to stay in a rental home rather than a hotel. Your home was so well prepared for visitors and it was a real treat to find the kitchen so completely stocked with everything that one could need. The comments in the initial information rec'd said that the kitchen and bathrooms would have "start up supplies". We were expecting sample sizes of everything but were so pleased to find ample full sized supplies. For once we did not have to go and spend extra money on dishwasher detergent, soap, cooking supplies etc., only to leave them behind when vacating. What a time and money-saver. Many thanks. We drove our rental car around the island and found it very easy to navigate. One day we took the Island Helicopter waterfall tour. It was out of this world - not only was there an around the island tour, but Island Heli is the only firm that has permission to actually land at the "Jurassic" Falls. This was outstanding. We also went to the Zip n' Dip at Princeville. So much fun, plus there was about 45 mins spent swimming at a small waterfall. A nice lunch was also provided. Our favourite thing to do, and we did it twice, was to drive to Wailua Falls and hike down to the waterfall. We had amazing swims down there and were the only people in the water. Absolutely magical. "I love Kauai, it's my favorite place to relax and always look forward to returning. The house was comfortable and close to everything we needed! Enjoyed Puka Dog, Bubba's burgers, Lappert's icecream, Roy's and Keoki's (get the hula pie!) Close to Poipu beach and my favorite, Brennecke's because of the waves. Spouting horn wasn't far either and good shopping with the vendors there...Kola town was great too...we did most of our shopping at Walmart right by the airport (there is a costco too) because it was cheaper but the supermarket in Koloa town (big save I think) was good as well and not too far. The house had beach chairs, beach towels, and buggie boards which was really nice. I also liked that you could sit on the deck and see the mountins one way and the water the other. "This was an amazing vacation from the very start. Even before we left I was able to speak with Ning about the home and the area. She had some great suggestions about different activities and restaurants. The home was fantastic. It was way more room than we needed. The highlight of the home for us was the wrap-around lanai. I was nice to just sit outside and relax in the bright sun and refreshing trade winds. The amenities in the home were also outstanding. We especially enjoyed all the beach gear and the wireless internet service, both of which we were not expecting. The location was perfect. It was a short 5 min walk to Shipwreck Beach and the Hyatt hotel. The pool and tennis courts that are a part of the resort community were also very close. Poipu Beach is also within walking distance, but a bit further (we often took the rental car there). There are also many restaurants in the area. Renting a car in Kauai is a must if you want to see the whole island, and the Bird of Paradise home was a perfect "home base" for our vacation. It was close to many of the thing we wanted to see and do and the Poipu area was just beautiful. Kauai Must Do: - Helicopter tour of the island. - Day at Poipu Beach. - Drive up to Waimea Cannon. - Hike the first 2 miles of the Kalalau Trail. (this can be strenuous) This was by far the best vacation we have taken. Kauai, Poipu, and the Bird of Paradise home offer everything from stunningly beautiful adventures to serene relaxation. We found "Bird of Paradise" by going to vacation home rentals available in Poipu and couldn't have been happier with our choice. The house is beautiful. "Great place for the price, size, and location. We had a great family vacation at this home. It was spacious and the kitchen had all the utensils to make it functional for kids meals and family dinners. It is a longer walk to the beach than we thought. We spent alot of time watching the sunrise and sunset on the patio. The house was clean and the beds were made. The lower basement rooms are the best place for the kids. The master suites are large enough for play pen by the bedside. We needed the water heater reset for some reason, and the resort maintenance responded quickly. "While the pictures and description of Bird of Paradise seemed very inviting and beautiful, I was not quite expecting the breathtaking views from the spacious and airy living room of this home. The layout of the home flows and it is quite spacious, equipped with everthing a person or persons might need to be comfortable. There is really no need to go to any four star restaurants, as the dining accomodations also showcase a spectacular view of the mountains. The gourmet kitchen and a trip to the local farmer's market could inspire any number of culinary adventures. The cozy bungalow off to the right of the house is simply charming and provides the feeling of being in another time and place. It is conveniently located by the wonderful Poipu and Shipwreck beaches which beckoned me to rise early and experience indescribable sunrises (a mere 5-10 minute walk away). "Our stay in Kauai was awesome and staying at the Bird of Paradise Home made it even better! The home was more than accomdating for our group of 8. The lovely home was extremely clean and stocked with all we needed. Having the local soaps & lotions was a nice touch! Our 19 year olds & guys liked the basket of used sunscreens..We only brought 30+ and they wanted 15-. The kitchen had enough pots & pans to handle cooking for our big eaters. We made two trips to Cost Co! It did take us a day to locate the correct swimming pool and the 19 year olds (boys) were told they could not swim at the Hyatt :). They discovered the locals hang out at the beach in front of the Sheraton so of course they forgot all about the Hyatt! The location of the home was very convenient for walking to the beach, pool, shopping, restaurants and of course beautiful hiking trails. We highly recommend ATV riding with Kipu Ranch Adventures and Zip lining with Princeville Adventures. You have to eat at Dukes and Keokee's, plus you can't leave the Island without at least one Puka Dog. The Lu'au at the Hyatt was fantastic. And last but not least, I think between all of us we tried every flavor and combination of Shaved Ice (get the ice cream on the bottom). All of us want to come back! "Aloha Ning! What a fabulous time we had in your home for our 10 day family vacation. We had a total of 9 people which included 5 adults and 4 children ages 13, 11 1/2, almost 5 and a 3 year old. There was plenty of room and no one felt like we were crammed at all. Kitchen had all the dishes, pot and pans that we needed and more! Could have used a few more dish towels though but I just ran to KMart and bought a couple and left them there for others! Living room was full of room and even had some movies to choose from. We had brought some from home and accidentally left one there Ice Age the Meltdown so enjoy if you ever rent this place and had children and need a kid movie! Views from around the house was so refreshing and hearing the birds in the am was so much fun! There is basically nothing bad to say about this home. Great location, plenty of room and nice to have access to beach chairs, mat, etc. etc. The extra room made it feel like a whole other apartment so everyone had ample room and room to spare. My mother did well and since you asked about how the configuration of the house worked for her, I will say that the fact that you had a full hand rail for the stairs and a half-bath on the living room level made it much easier and safer for her. It was especially nice that there were many "conversation areas" in the living room area where one could read, check their email, or doze off even and not feel like you were away from the group. We will be happy to recommend your home to people who will be vacationing in Kauai. It was very conveniently located; I loved the lanai; and you had a surplus of drinking glasses for our thirsty group of seven (my family still can't keep track of their own glass and always look for a clean one!). "Seven adults had a wonderfull vacation staying at the Bird of Paridise propery for two relaxing weeks. The home is both spacious and well designed with ample bathrooms and private bedrooms.Very nicely decorated and fully stocked with ample dishes,pots, towels and bedding to everyones satisfaction.There is no airconditiong but the tropical breeze and cross flow windows gave so much comfort that we slept with comforters over us.Each bedroom had two sets of sheets so that doing the laundry frequently is not required. Washer and dryer came in handy though and we made frequent use of them in the double garage which had a stock of beach chairs etc.We could not be any more comfortable and had parking for 4 cars in our own driveway.The self contained private bedroom off from the main house was a nice feature and a pleasure and we three couples rotated every 4 or 5 days so that all could have total privacy for a period of time.The view is breathtaking of the mountains and old volcano on one side and a glimps of the ocean on the other from the huge deck and a great barbecue and outdoor dinning area also. Flower gardens are spectacular also. We were very central to everything on the island here and close to several great beaches also.Just walk down to the end of the road to the ocean for a very pleasant experience and you can watch whales and sea turtles swimming. We were so glad that we rented in this area and Suite Paradise were so helpful also.
