Cueva De Almendros
Europe/Spain/Bacor
3 bedroom, 1 bath vacation cave home sleeps 6
Nestling beneath the remains of a hilltop castle in the peaceful Andalusian mountain village of Bacor, Cueva de Almendros cave house is perfect for a 'get away from it all' holiday. The cave house has recently been lovingly restored by its owners, Violet & Roger, who live in the village and extend a warm and friendly welcome to their guests. With accommodation for up to 6 people, and all modern conveniences provided, it makes an ideal base for exploring the lakes and sierras. The stunning scenery of Lake Negratin and Jabalcon mountain is just a 5-minute drive away, and has much to offer for walkers, cyclists and bird watchers. Winter skiing is available at Sierra Nevada, an hour's drive away.

For culture-vultures, the city of Granada, with its famous Alhambra, is just an hour's drive away. Alternatively, just soak up the sun and enjoy the relaxed pace of life in this traditional and friendly village! Cueva de Almendros is a typical example of an Andalusian mountain cave home, and it maintains a constant temperature of 17ÂșC, a welcome relief from the summer heat. It can comfortably accommodate up to 6 adults. There are 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin-bedded, and a double sofa bed in one of the two sitting rooms.. Bacor is a quiet Andalusian village and has 3 grocery shops, a bakery, butchers and fresh fish shop. The village market is held every Sunday There is a cafe/bar which serves tapas. The village is small but friendly and very traditional. If you sit outside in the courtyard on a warm summer's evening, you often get one or two neighbours passing by, and stopping to pass the time of day. The mules are still seen working here, and the goats are herded all over the village.
