"This is the fourth winter we escaped to Dorado, Puerto Rico. We adore Diana’s beach house. It’s right on the ocean and around the corner from the Kikita Surf beach. The beach house is bright, roomy and fully supplied. The décor is tropical to match the surroundings. Once we filled up the refrigerator, we put on our sandals and walked the stairway down to the beach. We could see a cruise ship on the horizon, surfers and now and then a flock of pelicans. It’s fun to walk over to Gloria’s side walk café. We always get a homemade pastillito and an ice cold beer. Every morning, we had our coffee on the deck and watched the waves roll in. Denis and I slept on the small beds in the living room. We went to Liquilla beach once (and back to Dorado in the 5 o'clock traffic in San Juan (crazy!!), Cerro Gordo Park twice. Visited Old San Juan, Bacardi (a must...). Did not go to Vieques, too far. As I wrote before, we spent hours on the veranda, looking at planes, ships, surfers. We saw a whale coming out and going in the sea an entire afternoon! Dorado is a nice place with plenty of services. You have a nice house, very pleasant and quiet .  "Al and Diana, Puerto Rico was one of the best vacations we have ever been on. We explored most of the island and Vieques. We did not have enough time to see all the things we wanted to and I suppose we will have to go back. Everything we did the kids said that was there favorite thing. Yesterday we swam in the rainforest and that was such a great experience. When we went to Vieques we were only planning on spending the Afternoon, but the kids wanted to stay longer so I searched high and low for a room and we ended up renting 2 rooms from a police officer about 2 blocks from the beach. We put his phone number in the book. We went to the bioluminecsent bay and there was no moon so it really lit up, that should be on everyones bucket list. "Dear Al and Diana, Your Dorado home is the most perfect place to spend time in the sun, during the dull gray western North Carolina winter. We love the casual “beach house” atmosphere and the fact that we got totally immersed in the Puerto Rican culture. We had our morning coffee on the deck watching the cruise ship heading into Old San Juan. On the short walk to the surfer beach, we saw two men harvesting the coconuts. One evening we were amazed by a group of men (and one boy who looked to be ten) came galloping by us on horse back! At Gloria’s kiosk we enjoyed local food and the guitar music and singing by Gloria’s husband. " What a wonderful week we shared with family and friends during the wedding of our youngest daughter. The weather was beautiful and the accommodations were great. Diana and Al's home provided the solution to maintaining some family unity. It more than met our needs. "our ventures to puerto rico staying at your lovely home in dorado was a very peaceful time for my wife & I-the waves & water crashed upon the rocks right there at our back door-the view was endless as far as you could see in either direction-we watched the locals ride the waves on their surf boards from our balcony-on occasion cruise ships would pass by only a half mile from shore-the ocean breeze & the smell & sound of the waves were so relaxing laying in bed at night knowing the vastness that lay beyond our imaginations-during the day there were many places to visit there in dorado, the surroundings were peaceful & secure-our personal belongings we left at your house knowing they would be safe as we ventured into san juan to shop the largest mall in puerto rico-the following day we traveled to the quaint town of fajardo--there we boarded a ferry that took us to another island called 'vieques'-there we spent one enjoyable night walking the lovely beaches & swimming in the pristine blue green waters that teamed with marine life-that night we witnessed the wonders of the bio- bay-a vintage school bus picked us up & off we were into the night traveling a short 20 minute ride through the jungles to reach the bay-it felt like a trip with indiana jones, but knowing we were safe with our tour guides-the following day we headed back to your house-there it felt like home-everything inside looked almost new-the kitchen was very functional & the whole house was very well layed out-we looked upon your home as ours & left it as pretty & clean as we found it-I hope you & your husband al will welcome us back some day soon-we surely plan to return-it is very refreshing knowing that there are caring people like you & al who gave us your beautiful home during our stay-you & al take care-we will meet again-thank you & merry christmas!" - duane & carmen, waxhaw, NC, 12/12/07

"we so enjoyed everything-I have never heard the ocean waves so loud-we all enjoyed sitting on the terrace & listening to the ocean-we felt so comfortable at your home-we definitely hope to come back when we can enjoy it longer-we visited the bacardi factory, enjoyed that-another day we went through el yunque,then that evening we did the bio bay tour at fajardo,the laguna grande-we decided to do that one since we weren't for sure about how long we would stay around the rain forest-both were so beautiful-the bay was awesome,& the el yunque, wow!! we also walked & walked around old san juan-another day we drove to ponce-but we also just did the beach around the house & took bambi with us-we met gloria & got beer & snacks at her place-everything was so much fun, we hated to leave-but will come back-we were at walgreens a lot buying & developing film & getting things we forgot-and the people at the grande market were so helpful too- so thank you so much for everything-we did share our food with bambi-it was cute...the people downstairs were real sweet & they had bought dog food to give to bambi,but we all noticed that it got left to the last,only after the people food was gone-she was so sweet,always there to welcome us home-everything was perfect & thanks so much for the suggestions in your black book-that really helped-we tried different restaurants in dorado & they were good too-we look forward to coming again-don't know when,but will definately be back-thanks again," - dave & becky, visalia, ca., 12/13/06
