The villa is 2 miles (3 kilometers) from the small and charming historic town of Anduze, build on the banks of the Gardon River,in a privileged situation, at the corner of Provence, Languedoc, the Mediterranean, Camargue, and Cevennes, reflecting the outstanding diversity and beauty of the region, the different ways of life, and religious, historic, artistic, and foreign influences over the centuries, and an infinite choice of cultural and outdoor activities.
You will love Anduze with its narrow streets, its many bakeries, its colorful craft stores, its 16th century well, its 14th century farmers-market, its medieval clock tower, and its lively and welcoming atmosphere. Anduze was already famous for its potteries under the Roman Empire.
You will find in Anduze many restaurants and coffee-places, regional wines and cuisine, all kind of shopping places, Catholic and Protestant churches, post-office, banks, pharmacies, bookshops, etc. You will enjoy the flee-market, the farmers market, and the numerous food and crafts fairs, the art galleries and museum, dolmens and caves, and the famous Bambouseraie, a spectacular bamboo park planted in 1850.
You will be able to explore the many hiking trails, to rent a bike, to go horse back-riding, to catch the steam antique train, or you might prefer to play tennis, petanque, bow and arrow, go swimming in the pool at the villa, or in the rivers, go fishing, river rafting, kayaking, mountain climbing, or discover the underground with speleology, or play golf.
You might also enjoy to explore wineries, local crafts, glass blowers, many museums, and historical sites such as Roman Arena and Temple in Nimes, the famous Roman Aqueduc Le Pont du Gard, the Old cities of Uzes and its castle, Avignon and the Pope Palace, Arles and its Van Gogh museum, the medieval village of Vezenobres on its mountain top, the fortified city of Aigues-Mortes, in Camargue, build in the 1100 for the crusades, and you will not want to miss the spectacular scenic drive of the Corniche des Cevennes, and the famous newly completed bridge of Millau, higher than the Eiffel Tower.
