Capistrano Beach, often referred to as Capo Beach, was incorporated into the City of Dana Point in 1989. Dana Point was named after Richard Henry Dana who wrote Two Years Before the Mast and who affectionately called Capistrano Bay “the most romantic spot on the coast”.

Often referred to as the “California Riviera” Capistrano Beach is a small slice of paradise half way between Los Angeles and San Diego. Capistrano Bay is anchored by the San Clemente Pier to the south and Dana Point Harbor to the north. Beach Road, where the beach house is located, is off of Pacific Coast Highway (aka PCH and/or HWY 1), minutes from the 5 freeway making it easily accessible to or from anywhere.

Within a short walk from the house there are public basketball courts and a seasonal beach equipment rental stand that offers such items as boogie boards, bikes, etc. And, if you are really energetic within a ½ mile walk there are restaurants (Italian, Sushi, Barbeque & Mexican) as well as a sports bar with outside seating.

Locally Capistrano Beach/ Dana Point, San Clemente, Laguna Beach and San Juan Capistrano are often referred to as the beach cities. Interesting since San Juan Capistrano is not a coastal city.

If relaxing with a good book, soaking up the sun, listening to the surf and doing absolutely nothing isn't your thing our local “beach cities” have a lot to offer within a few minutes drive.
