The north shore (where windsurfing and big wave surfing happens in the winter) is also easily accessible (20-25 minutes away) and day trips to Hana and Haleakala volcano are feasible from here. Whale-watching trips leave from Maalea boat harbor (5 minutes away) in the winter and snorkel trips to Molokini leave from Kihei and Maalea year round.
