The main house has a master bedroom suite, two other bedrooms and 1000 square feet of living and dining area surrounded by large picture windows on the second floor. A Bungalow suite on the second floor detached from the main house has it own kitchenette and offers beautiful mountain views. The bird of paradise home accommodates eight adults comfortably and in complete privacy because none of the bedrooms share a wall or is on top of another. A modern and completely equipped kitchen is also on the second floor.
The large wraparound lanai invites you to relax and enjoy the views, suntan, read a good book or eat outdoors. A large gas grill, also on the second floor lanai, makes cooking a breeze.
Bird of Paradise is locate on the hillside of Poipu Kai Resort looking Northeast. Two rows of coconut trees are line up in the front facing trade wind and give a great feeling of tropical paradise. More than two dozens of Bird of Paradise bushes under coconut trees are continually giving flowers all year round. Snow bushes and Hibiscus showing off their beauty along the border and around the house. Tropical tree manuba is grown as tall as the second floor lanai giving little red flower sporadic around the tree. Backside of the house has nice landscape of tropical bushes such as haliconia, Anthurium, white and blue ginger, Mango tree, Papaya and Bugalvia.
Guests enjoy all the amenities of the Poipu Kai Resort such as nine hard and soft surface tennis courts, swimming pool and spa near the Poipu Beach Broiler. There is 24 hour on site security for the peace of mind.
Bird of Paradise home is located mid-way between Shipwreck Beach, a beautiful beach best for experienced swimmers and surfers, and Brennecke and Poipu Beaches. Brennecke Beach is great for boogie boarding or body surfing. Poipu beach was voted as the best beach in the USA and is excellent for snorkeling and has a protected swimming area for kids. You can reach each one with an easy 5-10 minute walk through the beautiful green belts of Poipu Kai Resort.
Spouting Horn, National Botanical Gardens and the beautiful, yet uncrowned, Mahaulepu Beach are only three miles away.
There are three golf courses nearby. You can see and walk to The PGA grand slam course, Poipu Bay course on the cliffs. Trent Jones designed Kiahuna golf course is a mile away and Kalaeho, Public course with breathtaking views and unbelievably low rates is about ten minutes away. Diving, riding, snorkeling, watching the whales (in winter) , turtles, dolphins and seals, surfing, kayaking, diving and hiking or just plain loafing at the beach beckon those who like the outdoors.

"Our family of 8 stayed at Birds of Paradise from 5/9/15-5/16/15. Our group consisted of 3 young children (4 1/2, 4 1/2 and 7 1/2), 3 40-something adults and grandparents in their mid-60s. The location of the home was ideal. We were a short walk away from the Hyatt & attended the luau there one evening. We also walked to Poipu beach, Shipwreck beach, and to the hiking trails along the lithified cliffs. The walking paths that meander through the surrounding area were only a few houses away from Birds of Paradise. When I was originally looking for houses, I thought we'd prefer to be beachfront, but we really liked the views of the mountains and ocean from Birds of Paradise and we especially liked watching the green parrots descend every evening on the palm trees directly across from the house. I understand that people make reservations at certain restaurants to experience the green parrots, but we were able to watch them nightly from the lanai. The heated pool was the perfect place for our kids to play after a morning of exploration. The water was around 90 degrees, depth roughly 3 feet and there were plenty of pool toys at the house. My parents (the grandparents) stayed in the separate suite. The separate entrance, private bath and mini fridge / coffee maker in their room worked really well for them and allowed them to have privacy and maintain different hours than the rest of us (granddad wakes up really, really early :)) The property manager, Evan, was helpful with regulating the pool temperature, giving local beach and restaurant recommendations and checking in to make sure we were well taken care of. Birds of Paradise was the perfect base for us to explore the Waimea Canyon, Napili Coast (via Catamaran and hiking) and the area surrounding Poipu. We'd stay at the house again in a heartbeat."
