Come! Enjoy our quaint and friendly seaside village; fragrant beach roses; gulls, eagles, views of Cadillac Mt.; and Acadia National Park's Schoodic Point on the rockbound coast of Maine...and great seafood! [Note that photos displayed w/this listing include pictures of the area surrounding Winter Harbor.] Our townhouse is NOT in a condo complex with a deck overlooking the parking lots. This home is in a lovely neighborhood setting, has its own *private* deck overlooking the backyard with a view of Cadillac Mountain, and is walking distance to waterfront, restaurants, galleries and shops. Walk or drive in less than a minute to year round and seasonal eateries, or pick up what you need for a picnic to enjoy on Schoodic Point. Fisherman's Inn, a chef owned (seasonal) restaurant is only 2/10 mi. away, directly across from the harbor; Chase's family restaurant is even closer, open year round for breakfast, lunch and dinner (try their sweet potato fries along with one of their fresh seafood dishes). Also close by is Harbor Girl cafe for sandwiches, soups, pizza for those who don't love seafood. Order sandwiches and cold drinks for a picnic at Schoodic Point or Frazer Point oceanside picnic area. Our pretty, fully equipped 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath home is in quaint Winter Harbor on the Schoodic Peninsula. This lovely townhouse in a charming Downeast Maine fishing village will welcome you home at the end of every special day of your vacation. Connected by excursion ferry (June through mid-September) to lively Bar Harbor, but nestled in a quieter, authentic Downeast Maine coastal village, near many breathtaking views. You'll have a private deck overlooking your own fenced-in backyard w/views of gorgeous sunsets over Cadillac Mountain; a deck where you can sit unobserved in your pj's with morning coffee, or relax later with a glass of wine while watching stunning sunsets over Cadillac Mountain. And the broad night sky is a black sea of stars! (We'll tell you about a spot where there is so little light pollution that you'll see a sky you probably have never seen before... and a resident porcupine.) The house is a very easy stroll to the ocean harbor. The Bar Harbor ferry, restaurants, antiques, art, small supermarket, the famous Winter Harbor 5&10, Tuesday Farmer's Market (summer), are all within walking distance. You'll be only one half mile from the entrance to the Schoodic Point section of Acadia National Park, considered by many the most dramatic scenery and surf in Acadia National park. *Great bicycling!* *Great hiking, kayaking, or touring by car.* The Schoodic Loop road winds its way through marshes, ocean coves & harbors, past the Winter Harbor Mark Island lighthouse, pine topped islands, and dramatic surf and impressive granite outcroppings. On clear days Petit Manan Light is visible from points along the Schoodic Loop Road. Visitors are sometimes treated to sightings of seals and porpoises. Grindstone Neck yacht harbor, golf, and additional heart-tuggingly beautiful scenery are close by, as is Frazer Point oceanside picnic area and fishing pier, complete with tidal pools. Frazer Point park is a great place for kids to play, adults to relax with the lawn chairs we provide or on the park picnic tables, family and friends gathered around a crackling fire (fire rings provided by the Park) roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and creating indelible memories. The townhouse sleeps up to six in 2 queen rooms, and one twin bedroom. All bed linens and bedding are provided. We provide a portable Graco baby "pack n play" (you bring sheets for the crib. All other sheets are supplied). The bright, sunny, eat-in kitchen seats 4. The larger dining area is adjacent to the cozy family room and seats 6. The family room is equipped with satellite tv, dvd/vcr/cd player, small assortment of games and videos/dvd's/cd's. We provide books for light reading, area guides, and comfortable furnishings: couch, matching chair and wicker rocking chair. Why end your day sitting on the edge of your bed in a hotel or motel, or looking out at a condo parking lot when - for less money - you can enjoy the privacy, comforts, and convenience of an entire 1200 sq. foot townhome? Sit with a book (we have plenty!) and your favorite beverage on the private back deck, overlooking a green space, watching goldfinches, gulls, herons, and even sometimes eagles - glide by on the air currents. When you leave, all we ask is that you restore the kitchen to the condition in which you found it, leave the used bed linens on the washing machine and take off with wonderful memories and the resolution to return! We provide a fan for each bedroom to help bring in the cool night air for your sleeping comfort.
